Event description

Did you know that animal superpowers are very important for us humans? Biologist and journalist Ilya Kolmanovsky will tell and show what talents some animals have and how their skills inspire scientists and engineers to create new technologies and materials.

Feel free to invite your little fans of cartoons and computer games to meet Ilya Kolmanovsky. After all, in addition to the fact that our lecturer is familiar with the latest scientific research, he also has an incredible talent for communicating with children. Ilya talks about all living things so fascinatingly - and shows them! - that children want to learn more and more.

"I will tell you how we use biodiversity in the era of synthetic biology and what new technologies humans could create based on the superpowers of animals," says Ilya Kolmanovsky.

  • Why did the canary become a symbol of danger warning?
  • Why did medics use the blood of swordtails to create medicines?
  • Who really invented the pregnancy test?
  • Is it true that snail venoms actually cure some diseases?
  • How do animals help scientists come up with digital sensor systems and what is an "electronic nose"?
  • What do dogs work as in human hospitals?

Ilya Kolmanovsky is a PhD in biology, science journalist, and author of the podcasts Naked Digger and One and a Half Digger.
