"Two Prosecutors" (2025) - film by S. Loznitsa in German cinemas from 1 to 28 January 2026

Soviet Union, 1937. Thousands of letters from prisoners who have been victims of false accusations are burned in a prison cell.
But one letter, against all odds, falls into the hands of the newly appointed district prosecutor, Alexander Korneev, who makes every effort to meet with the prisoner, a victim of NKVD agents. Korneev, a staunch Bolshevik and a man of principles, suspects that the case has been fabricated.
He wants justice - and goes to Moscow to appeal directly to the Prosecutor General.
Along the way, Korneev encounters the ugly manifestations of Stalin's totalitarian regime, which does not formally recognize its true face.

About the director
Sergei Loznitsa was born in 1964 in Baranovichi (USSR, now Belarus) and grew up in Kiev, Ukraine. In 1987, he graduated from the Kiev Polytechnic Institute and defended his diploma as an engineer-mathematician.
From 1987 to 1991, he worked as a researcher at the Institute of Cybernetics in Kiev.
In 1997 he completed his studies at VGIK in Moscow.
Since 1996 Loznitsa has been making films, he has already 28 documentaries and 5 feature films, which have won numerous awards.
Since 2001, the director has been living in Germany.
