Two women. Two truths. One encounter that changes everything.
Chulpan Khamatova and Yulia Aug share the stage in the play “Healing.” Directed by Latvian director Elmars Senkovs and based on a play by Mikhail Durnenkov, this is a tense story about the past, responsibility, and the possibility of forgiveness.
After her father’s death, Anna—played by Yulia Aug—takes over the “Healing” charity foundation he founded. She must carry on her father’s work and take responsibility for the people the foundation helps.
At this point in her life, Sonya—a journalist played by Chulpan Khamatova—enters the picture. Her past is shrouded in mystery, and her intentions threaten everything Anna has come to regard as unshakable. The conversation turns into a confrontation. With each new revelation, our understanding of the characters, their motives, and the price of truth shifts. Behind the outward conflict, the personal story of each woman gradually comes to light.
“Healing” invites viewers to reflect: Is it possible to break free from the grip of the past? To listen to someone who challenges your beliefs? And is forgiveness possible where, it seems, only mutual distrust remains?
