Event description

The last screenings of "You’re going away? Then go!" dedicated to the release of the soundtrack to the play-concert.

Igor Titov, director: "I have been studying the author-songwriter A.A. Galich for a long time and the soundtrack to the play "You’re going away? Then go!" - is my second attempt to reinterpret his lyrics in the space of the theater. This time it is a theater detached from its native soil, which creates a wider field of semantic contexts. In this collection we tried to preserve the theatrical atmosphere of the choral songs and to highlight the chamber and intimacy of the solo pieces. We did a little work with the compilation of the text, searching for a sound that combines Berlin's moods and words written more than 50 years ago. Everything is done with great respect for the author's word, and hopefully it will be heard."

ABOUT THE SPECTACLE

The life of Alexander Galich, his difficult writing fate give many reasons for reflection and theatrical realization of his biography. Being a systematic playwright and scriptwriter in his time, over time he reinterpreted the Soviet reality in his poems and songs, became a dissident and, as a consequence, was forced to leave the country.

The basis of the performance-concert are songs on the words of the Soviet bard and dissident Alexander Galich. The performance is divided into 2 acts. The first one is a free reconstruction of Galich and his wife's send-off abroad. The second act brings together in one space iconic persons of different times - Shalamov, Astafiev, Letov, Chaadayev and Galich discuss and argue about the place of their country in the world.
