Event description

Tatiana Khazanovskaya, Israel. Winner of international competitions.

Based on the novel by Sholem Aleichem. A play about fate, talent, being chosen and the price one pays for it, and, of course, love.

Director: Nina Mikhoels

Two young protagonists—the beautiful Reizl, with her dark Gypsy eyes, and the gentle, sensitive Leibl—grew up in a small Jewish town. A traveling theater troupe that came to their town turned their lives upside down. They decided to run away with the actors and swore never to part. But they were separated. Their fates took different paths; both became stars—he in Jewish theater, she on the opera stage. Both searched for each other, but it took a long time before they managed to meet. “Don’t be afraid. Stars don’t fall; they wander. Stars—they wander. Every star is a human soul. Wherever the soul goes, there the person goes.” A play about destiny, talent, being chosen, and the price one pays for it—and, of course, about love.

“Tatyana Khazanovskaya’s one-woman theater—a subtle, contemporary actress with a keen sense of classical drama—is a rare phenomenon on the Israeli stage... The poignant story, told to the world by the classic of Jewish literature, Sholem Aleichem, has been adapted for the screen and staged many times. But this is the first time it has been presented as a one-woman show: Tatyana Khazanovskaya plays all the roles alone, and the familiar *Wandering Stars* are seen in a completely different light.”

“The actress’s mastery so captivated the audience that everyone, holding their breath, watched her performance with admiration. This young, graceful woman treated us to moments of delight in the world of a Jewish town, created by the great Jewish writer. Each character was brought to life with such taste, imbued with the vibrant Jewish color of that era!” — *Most*.

“Israeli actress Tatiana Khazanovskaya is a true star of the stage. She is not merely a brilliant, virtuosic dramatic actress. Tanya is a master of the one-woman show—perhaps the most challenging genre in the acting arts.” — *Charm*.
