Bio of the members of the band "Skryabin"

"Skryabin" is a popular Ukrainian collective known for its extraordinary musical style and lyrics filled with deep meaning. The permanent leader, soloist and heart of the band was Andriy Kuzmenko. The band is considered to be the founder of synth-pop, a genre of electronic music in Ukraine.

Formation of the band "Skryabin"

The history of the band began in 1989 in the town of Novoyavorivsk, Lviv region.

The band "Skryabin" united musicians from different teams, who played in the local studio "Spati". The first lineup included such members as:

• Andrey Kuzmenko (Kuzma) - vocalist, author of lyrics and music;
• Sergey Gera (Shura) - keyboard player;
• Rostislav Domishevsky (Roy) - bass-guitarist, author of music and lyrics;
• Igor Yatsishin - drummer;
• Alexander Skryabin (Skryaba) - sound engineer.

The collective remained unchanged for about 10 years.

Studio "Spati" in Novoyavorivsk

The beginning of the Scriabin group's creativity was the recording of the song "Chuesh bil". The composition became the first of 12 in the eponymous tape album, which the band recorded in the studio "Spati". The cassette was never released, but it became the reason of the band's name. The musicians shot a music video for the song "Chuesh bil", and to send it to the festival it was necessary to enter the name of the band. Alexander Skryabin was absent in the studio, in whose honor the band was jokingly named.

First performances and popularity

For the first time on the big stage the band performed in 1991 at the festival "Chervona Ruta" in a changed line-up and under a different name. The musicians attracted the attention of music labels and fans. After that there was a period of instability and decline. In the second half of 1994, the fate of the group "Scriabin" changed. The artists recorded the album "Ptahi", which brought them all-Ukrainian popularity. In the next couple of years, the musicians took part in dozens of festivals, actions, performed on Irina Bilyk's warm-up, recorded new tracks.

Style evolution

Since 1997, the period of independent creativity of the group "Scriabin" begins. The cassettes "Kazki" and "Mova Rib" are released, which show the band in a new light. The artists give their first big solo concert, and also win the title "The most popular alternative group" in 1997. The collective performs a lot, appears on radio and television. Popularity pushed the musicians to search for a new sound, in some compositions of that time you can hear the notes of electronic rock, dance rave. This was a decisive turn in the life of the band, which determined its further destiny and influence on the world of Ukrainian music.

For a long history of existence, the collective released 17 albums, 2 more remained unreleased. From the early disks "Ptahi" and "Technofight" to the late records "Dobryak" and "25", the artists' work covers different genres and touches on different topics. Among the most popular hits of the group "Scriabin" can be noted such compositions:

• "Movchati" (in duet with Irina Bilyk) and others.

Kuzma Scriabin is the heart of the band

Andrey Kuzmenko remained the constant leader and soloist of the band, songwriter. He largely determined the creative path of the band.

Kuzma's early years

Andrei from childhood was fond of music. He was attracted by the creativity of The Beatles, Boney M, Procol Harum. At an older age, he got acquainted with punk music, began listening to The Exploited, Depeche Mode, The Cure. The performers inspired Kuzmenko to create his own band.

Period of popularity

With the arrival of all-Ukrainian fame, Andrew not only takes part in concerts, but also tries himself as a TV presenter, hosts programs on the radio, later becomes a producer in several projects. In the early 00s the old team disintegrates, Kuzma Skryabin gathers a new one around him. At the same time the direction of creativity changes. In the songs sound more canonical pop and pop-rock, the lyrics touch on love and philosophical themes.

Last years

Shortly before the tragedy, Kuzma worked a lot, tried himself in new genres, created solo projects, produced new groups. In the late songs sound melancholy motifs, socio-political themes. On February 2, 2015, Andrey Kuzmenko died in a car accident. His tragic death came as a shock to fans and colleagues.

The artists organize memorable tours in the countries of Europe and the USA.
