The play "Dvoe na kachelyah" (ru) in Berlin 15 may 2024

"Two on a Swing" is a famous play by American playwright William Gibson, it's been made into a film, it's been staged in all the world's theatres, it has only two characters. It is a love story about two young, thirty-year-old people, it is the story of their acquaintance, their relationship, and their torment. The play is written in the traditions of psychological theatre and Chekhov's dramaturgy, and one of its most famous versions has been performed at the Sovremennik Theatre for many years. 

To dare to offer this familiar material to the audience is a great responsibility and a great risk, and even a challenge. Years go by, generations of actors and audiences in love with the play change, but it continues to fascinate audiences of different ages, so what keeps it from becoming outdated and leaving the stage? 

"It's just a play about me, about my family, my parents, my neighbours, and their families, and if the truth be told, it's not an invented melodrama with invented characters about you and only about you." 

The director of the play is Vlad Lyakhovetsky, a representative of the school of psychological theatre. In co-authorship with L.E. Heifetz he worked on the productions "The Cherry Orchard" (Mossovet Theatre) and at the Mayakovsky Theatre ("The Synthesiser of Love", "The Descent from Mount Morgan", "It's not all for naught", "Pygmalion", "The Price", "Fathers and Sons", "All My Sons"). The plays can be seen at the Mayakovsky Theatre, and the master class "How to Become Happy" at various venues in Moscow.
