From October 14 to 15, 2026, screenings of Anna Melikyan’s film “Star” will take place in movie theaters across Germany.
A fifteen-year-old teenager who suffers from a lack of understanding from those around him. His worldly and arrogant young stepmother, who has only experienced true feelings and genuine affection on the brink of death. An aspiring actress whom nature has deprived of talent but more than compensated for with a love of life. Their lives collide and become intricately intertwined, binding them closely together. This is a story about the inscrutability of love and fate, and about the vulnerability of our existence.
What the Film Is About
“Star” is an original story, not an adaptation of a literary work. At the heart of the plot are two completely different women, Rita and Masha, each of whom, in her own way, strives to change her life.
Rita is accustomed to a comfortable life alongside an influential man, while young Masha dreams of a career, fame, and the life of a true star. An unexpected medical situation forces the heroines to view their plans and values in a completely different light.
This synopsis merely outlines the premise; the story then unfolds around the chance intertwining of the two heroines’ fates. Anna Melikyan’s original drama simultaneously explores serious life circumstances and ironically portrays human ambitions, fears, and the desire to get more out of life.
