His movie debut was at the age of 26, but he became a popular actor only after 40, when he starred in the TV series "Kamenskaya" and "Dossier of Detective Dubrovsky". Today Sergei Garmash (Sergey Garmash) - one of the most successful and sought-after artists. His filmography counts more than 160 series and paintings, three of which - nominees for "Oscar". For 36 years of work in "Sovremennik" he played dozens of bright roles. However, the path from an actor of the Kherson Puppet Theater to the People's Artist of Russia was not easy, and Garmash was able to achieve success solely due to talent and hard work.
Childhood and teenage years of the actor
The future actor was born on September 1, 1958 in Kherson (Ukraine). The boy's parents were simple workers. Mother all her life worked as a dispatcher at the bus station. His father worked for some time as a driver, later, after graduating from the institute, moved to a managerial position. That their son would become a famous actor, they could not even imagine. In childhood, Sergei was a difficult child: often fought, broke glass, could persuade the whole class to skip class and go to the movies. For bad behavior, he repeatedly wanted to expel him from school.
Sergei did not do well with his studies. Exact sciences were given to him with great difficulty, although in the humanities he did well, a lot of reading. The guy dreamed of the sea, long voyages, seriously interested in sailing and was going to enter the nautical school. On acting career Garmash did not even think. Documents to the theater school took his mother. The choice of the educational institution fell only because there were few entrance exams.
Garmash easily entered the school, graduated and received a diploma as a puppet theater actor. During the next two years, until serving in the army, Sergei worked as a puppeteer in his hometown, occasionally going on tour to nearby villages.
Demobilized, Garmash decided to continue his studies in Moscow, opting for the Moscow Art Theatre Studio School. For the entrance exam, Sergei took an excerpt from Dostoevsky. The text was quite long, but the members of the commission did not interrupt the applicant. Garmash realized that he would be taken.
Years of study at the university, Sergei remembers as one of the best periods of his life. Future actors lived cheerfully. Charming and hooligan by nature, Garmash very quickly acquired buddies and became the soul of the company. Their antics friends pissed off all the teachers. Because of absenteeism, they even for six months deprived of a scholarship, and the guys were forced to moonlight as janitors.
In the School-studio of the Moscow Art Theater worked fantastic pleiad of teachers. Mentor Garmash became a famous actor Mikhail Tarkhanov. Thanks to him, Sergei was able not only to learn the wisdom of acting, but also to look at his profession with slightly different eyes.
Creative career
Upon graduation, Garmash was accepted into the troupe of "Sovremennik". For 36 years of creative activity, he became one of the leading actors of the theater. In his record list there are many bright works, among which are the roles of:
- Lopakhin in "The Cherry Orchard";
- Famusov in "Woe from Wit";
- Alphonse in "Three Comrades";
- the older brother in "Karamazovs and Hell."
Even more impressive looks and the filmography of the actor. Garmash began acting in movies immediately after graduation. His debut on the screen was a war drama "Detachment" directed by Konstantin Simonov. After its release on the screen, the actor began to shoot almost without interruption. Most of the work was the roles of the second plan, but the bright images of "real men", which managed to create Garmashu, for a long time remembered by viewers.
Truly popular actor became after the release of the series "D. D. D. D. Dossier of Detective Dubrovsky" and "Kamenskaya". Offers to work began to come from the most famous directors. At different times Garmash was filmed at Stanislav Govorukhin and Nikita Mikhalkov, Valery Todorovsky and Timur Bekmambetov, Sergei Bodrov and Yuri Kara. Sergei Leonidovich's creative achievements have been recognized with many awards, including Nika, Idol, Seagull and Golden Ram.
Personal life
Successful Garmash and in his personal life. For many years, the actor has been happily married to Inna Timofeeva, with whom he studied at the School-Studio of the Moscow Art Theater. They met when the girl was 16 years old. Garmash had to long to court his chosen one, before she reciprocated. Helped by chance: Sergei broke his leg, he had to move on crutches for several months. Inna visited the guy in the hospital, helped him after discharge.
By the end of the fourth year, the couple rented an apartment and never parted again. A few months later, the young people officially registered their relationship. When in 1984 Sergei was hired to work in the theater "Sovremennik", he asked that they took there and his Inna.
After 4 years, the couple had a daughter Daria, and in 2006 - a son Ivan. The appearance of a second child after 18 years was a precious gift for Garmash, who always dreamed of a boy.
Currently, Daria Garmash works as deputy director of the studio "Russian Project". She is married to movie lighting Pavel Sidorov, with whom she dated for 8 years. In January 2017, Daria gave her husband a son, and Sergei Leonidovich - the first grandson.
Garmash's son Ivan is only thinking about a future career. Sergei Leonidovich, as a strict father, makes sure that the boy received a decent education and could choose a profession to his liking. The actor tries to spend as much time as possible with his son, but it succeeds him not always.
Garmash's wife still serves in the "Sovremennik". Sergey Leonidovich himself at the end of July 2020 left the theater at the end of July 2020, not working with the new director, who came there after the death of Galina Volchek. The decision was not easy for the actor, because with "Sovremennik" is associated with an important stage of the creative biography of Garmash. However, he took it.
Currently, the actor continues to actively star in films. Despite the far from young age, he is not going to leave the profession. About his creative plans and new projects you can always find out in our catalog of artists on the website kontramarka.de.
