Rachmaninoff: One Soul—Two Wings

Two concert grand pianos, two powerful artistic personalities, and a composer whose music oscillates between confession, tempest, and sweeping melodic lines. Kiryl Keduk and Artem Yasynskyy dedicate this evening to Sergei Rachmaninoff, the master of expansive melodies and dramatic piano architecture.

Kiryl Keduk made his debut as a soloist with the National Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra in Minsk at the age of ten. At the Kissinger Piano Olymp, he won both First Prize and the Audience Prize and has performed at Steinway Hall in New York, the Pierre Boulez Saal in Berlin, and in Tokyo.

Artem Yasynskyy, a prize winner at the Sydney International Piano Competition and gold medalist at the Cincinnati World Piano Competition, combines an international concert career with a distinctive artistic style. He has performed at Carnegie Hall, the Berlin Philharmonie, and the Laeiszhalle in Hamburg, and teaches at the University of the Arts in Bremen.

In the first part, both pianists explore Rachmaninoff’s solo repertoire with preludes, etude-pictures, character pieces, and moments of musical introspection. Then, the two voices converge on two grand pianos: in Suite No. 2 for Two Pianos, Op. 17, a work brimming with rhythmic power, shimmering waltz-like movement, and passionate intensity.
