A young sailor meets a beautiful Italian woman selling flowers in the streets of Sorrento. One look is all it takes - and a great love is kindled, but time is of the essence: The ship's bell rings, the steamer calls, and the shadow of separation settles over their happiness.

Will they meet again? Will their love survive the tests of time and distance?
