Screening of the movie "Captain Volkonogov Escaped" in Germany from 21 to 22 May 2026

"Captain Volkonogov Escaped" is a feature film directed by Natalia Merkulova and Alexei Chupov, a co-production between Russia, Estonia and France.

The action of the picture unfolds in the USSR in the late 1930s. The main character, captain of the NKVD Fyodor Volkonogov, is drawn into the mechanism of repression, which begins to destroy its own performers. Realizing the inevitability of death, Volkonogov goes into desperate flight. However, he soon learns that he has a chance to avoid posthumous torment - if at least one person forgives him for the evil he has done.
