Alexander Vasiliev in Berlin. "Beauty in Exile" 19 April 2024

Alexander Vasiliev is a fashion historian, theatre decorator and art historian, TV presenter and collector. His collection of outfits and accessories, which he has been collecting for almost half a century, has been exhibited in many countries, and the maestro himself has created an entire museum, which is now located in Lithuania. The maestro himself lives between Lithuania and Paris.

Among the exhibits of his collection are outfits of world celebrities: Maya Plisetskaya, Olga von Kreutz, Jacqueline de Bogurdon, Princess Maria Scherbatova. On the basis of the fund, Vasiliev has organised thematic exhibitions over the years.

The lecture in Berlin "BEAUTY IN EXILE" is about the time of Russian emigration in Europe after the revolution of 1917 and its influence on the fashion of the 20s and 30s. The centres of emigration were Berlin, Constantinople, Prague, Paris and Belgrade. In many of these cities, emigrants were able to express themselves in artistic and artistic fields, one of which was fashion. Russian aristocrats opened fashion houses and embroidery houses. Their daughters became famous manicurists of the time.

Alexander will also give examples of modern emigration, showing the connection between the past and the present. Russian emigrants continue to influence fashion today, bringing their creative ideas and style to the industry.
