Yuri Antonov is a Soviet pop star, a true legend, a talented singer, composer, a major hitmaker, the first in the Soviet Union to officially earn millions. His songs are heartfelt, melodic, close and understandable to everyone, so they are remembered and equally loved by audiences of all ages.
Childhood and teenage years
The future artist was born on February 19, 1945. The hometown of Yura Antonov was Tashkent. The boy's mother lived there during the war, his father - an SA officer - fought at the front. Then the head of the family was transferred to Berlin, and he took his wife and young son there.
After Germany, the boy's parents moved to Belarus and, having changed a couple of garrisons, settled in the small town of Molodechno. The future celebrity was attracted to music in childhood. He willingly went to music school, where his mother took him, and after finishing it, entered a music school. It was during his studies here that Yuri Antonov gathered his first ensemble and began to perform with him in the local CD.
After graduating from the school, the young specialist was assigned to Minsk, began to teach young talents. At the same time, Yuri got a job in the city philharmonic society, but was soon called up for service in the army.
Beginning of creative activity
Demobilized, Antonov returned to Minsk. For some time he works as the head of the ensemble "Tonika", then receives an invitation from the head of the VIA "Singing Guitars" Vasiliev, who was looking for a keyboard player for his project.
Cooperation with the Leningrad collective became a kind of starting point in the creative biography of the young performer. It was here that Yuri first came on stage as a vocalist, in the same ensemble sounded debut songs written by him:
- "Airport";
- "Stop, don't shoot, soldier!";
- "Where is courage?"
- "If You Love...".
In the early 70's Yuri Antonov moved to Moscow and began working with the VIA "Dobry Molodtsy", but stayed there for a short time. In just a few years he tries himself in different roles, becomes:
- a member of the orchestra "Sovremennik";
- head of the ensemble at the music hall;
- director of the pop group "Magistral".
At the same time his first small records with 1-2 songs, which brought the composer his first fame, were published. First Antonov records them with "Sovremennik", then - with the VIA "Dobry Molodtsy", later Yuri's songs appear in the repertoire of the ensembles "Veselye Rabyaby", "Zemlyane", "Red Poppies", "Singing Hearts". His compositions are performed by other venerable singers - Valery Obodzinsky, Lev Leshchenko.
At the zenith of fame
However, Antonov's real fame was brought to him by his collaboration with the Arax group. 3 mini-albums recorded with this group, sold out a solid circulation of millions of copies, after which Yuri became one of the most popular performers in the country.
In 1980, the artist received an offer from the Odessa Film Studio to use his songs in the movie "Take Care of Women". Later Antonov wrote tracks for other films.
In 1982, Yuri's first long-playing album was released, opening a new page in his creative biography. After him, giant disks begin to appear with enviable regularity. Almost every work becomes a hit, an exact hit among the best. An example is the composition "Shire circle", which for a long time was the anthem of the festival of the same name, and the track "Under the roof of your house", with which Yuri Antonov first went to the finals of the "Song of the Year".
The artist continues to work hard: he cooperates with the ensemble "Blue Bird", becomes the soloist of the Philharmonic in Chechnya-Ingushetia. At the same time, he writes a musical for children about the funny adventures of grasshopper Kuzi, starred in the movie "Before Parting" and, of course, gives hundreds of concerts at the best venues in the country. At one of these performances, the artist sharply commented on local officials, after which he was removed from all the airwaves for almost 2 years.
Antonov returned to his creative work only in 1988. By the early 2000s, his discography counts almost 20 records, the total circulation of which is 48 million copies.
Wanting to reach new heights, the popular musician tried himself as a producer, but his project was not a great success.
Since the early 2000s, Yuri Antonov practically does not release new songs, but he does not part with the big stage, taking part in festivals, concerts and tours. Besides, he can be seen as a jury member of various contests and among the participants of popular TV-projects. Recently, the active activity has moved to the background: after an illness Antonov had a lot of health problems. But the musician treats all difficulties philosophically.
Personal life
Yuri Antonov has no wife at the moment, although the musician officially married three times. Talk about his personal life, the artist does not like to talk about his personal life, so about many details fans can only guess.
The first time the singer married in 1976. His chosen one's name was Anastasia. After living with her husband for some time, she left for a permanent residence in America. Antonov, who at that time was at the peak of popularity, to follow his wife did not dare.
Create a new family musician failed. And the second and third marriage quickly disintegrated. His former wives now live in Zagreb and Paris.
Yuri Antonov has two children. The adult daughter works abroad, the son - in Moscow.
The musician lives in a cottage village near the capital. Together with him live about 4 dozen cats, peacocks, ducks, ducks, guinea fowl, rabbits. Yuri Mikhailovich loves his pets very much, considers them the best and tries not to leave them alone for a long time so that they do not get bored.
