"Sekret" (Sekret) was a popular Soviet and Russian rock band whose boogie-woogie songs became part of the golden fund of Russian culture. Their beat quartet was often associated with The Beatles. Musicians not only resembled stage images, played in a similar style to their favorite Liverpool legends, but also managed to win huge popularity. The band went through a difficult way of formation: they were thrown bottles during the concert, they had to earn money to buy instruments, painting other people's yachts, to solve misunderstandings between the members themselves, to change the line-up. But their love for music and inexhaustible talent helped them to break through to the stage, win recognition and even get a prize in the "Legend" nomination.
History of creation
April 20, 1983 is considered the official birthday of "Secret". But the history of the band started two years earlier. In 1981 Maxim Leonidov, Dmitry Rubin and Nikolai Fomenko mastered the basics of theatrical art in LGITMiK. Already then they had the idea of creating a musical group. In 1982 they organized a band called "Christina". Drummer Alexander Kalinin joined them. They played a trial concert at the wedding of a classmate. It ended with the fact that Maxim, who played electric guitar, was electrocuted.
But the guys did not stop anything. At the end of the current year they left Kalinin. The search for a new drummer and funds to buy instruments began. They managed to earn money, to buy a bass guitar "Orpheus" and to include Alexey Murashov in the line-up. Then they decided to change the name to a more original one. The idea of "Secret" arose after listening to the favorite "Beatles", in particular, the composition Do you want to know a secret?
In 1983, the musicians actively rehearse and start performing in clubs. During one of the concerts they get acquainted with Bari Alibasov, who invites them to play in the program of the ensemble "Integral" in Moscow. But in return he makes a demand - to correct the repertoire. The guys refuse the offer, not wanting to dance to someone else's tune. Unexpectedly, Dmitry Rubin accepts the invitation and leaves the team.
He is replaced by Andrei Zabludovsky. Then the "golden" composition of the group "Secret" is formed, which will soon rattle the whole country.
Formation period
To become popular, they had to make their way into a real rock crowd. At that time, the Leningrad Rock Club was considered the best guide. It was from there that all the popular bands started. This organization gave official status to the group, expanding the number of fans. Mikhail Naumenko (Mike from the legendary "Zoo Park") helped the guys to join the rock club and soon get on the big stage.
At the very start of their career they released their debut album "You and I". The musicians carefully think over the concept of the project: they decide on the genre, work out the style. Realizing how important the "picture" is, they create their own image - they wear red thin ties. A lot of attention is also paid to stage productions. With two credentialed actors in the ensemble, this was no problem.
Having made the first steps, they found on the way another obstacle - Maxim and Nicholas were taken to the army. There they do not stop creating, writing texts for the repertoire of their collective. And circumstances quite accompany this, because they served in the song and dance ensemble of the Leningrad Military District. Other participants at this time do not stop musical activity, cooperate with Konstantin Kinchev (lead singer of the rock band "Alice").
In 1984, "Secret" smiled at luck. Maxim was invited to work on television. He became the host of an innovative youth music program "Spinning disks". He tries with all his might to "push" on TV and his team. And he succeeds - their songs are heard in every issue.
At the same time Zabludovsky works at a construction plant, Alexey studies at the institute. Often meet the musicians did not work out, so some melodies appeared in "telephone mode". It was in this not the easiest period that most of the songs for the second record were written.
Peak of popularity
In 1985, they got a fifth member - administrator Sergei Alexandrov. He gave the collective opportunities, money, organizational assistance and confidence in success. With his appearance, "Secret" began an active concert activity, performing sometimes five times a day. They got a crowd of fans, formed one of the first fan clubs in Russia. They began to release clips and star in movies.
In 1987 the second album "Secret" was released. It consisted of 12 songs, and almost every song became a hit. The record twice received the status of platinum. The geography of their concerts expanded to the countries of Europe. They gave three performances each and toured a lot.
Two years later, they consolidated their success with the third album "Leningrad Time". But immediately after the release Leonidov announced that he was leaving the group. He went to Israel for 4 years and there continued to write his musical biography as part of Hippoband.
Fomenko, Zabludovsky and Murashov began to perform as a threesome. They recorded the album "Orchestra on the Road" together with the ensemble "Cape Town", which gave a new sound to the band. In 1994, their discography is replenished with one more work, but popularity begins to decline. Soon Nikolai leaves them. He has already built a career as a TV presenter and actor.
Andrew and Alexei gather a new team. But it does not bring them success. And when Murashov also decides to leave the collective, the group changes its name to "Andrei Zabludovsky and "Secret-99".
Reunion of legends
The former glory beckoned the members to the stage for a long time. They gathered every five years to perform at anniversary concerts, and in 2013 they reunited to the delight of fans. Today, each of them has a personal life and their own career achievements, but music has not moved to the background. They periodically perform at festivals and concerts, in 2014 released the album "All This Is Love", actively tour Russia with various theatrical works.
