Alexey Potapenko is a popular singer, showman and producer. He is considered one of the most successful personalities in the Ukrainian show business. Today millions of people know about him, and not only in his home country, but also in Russia and other CIS countries. But all this fame and world fame did not fall on his head, but was the result of a long and painstaking labor.
Childhood years
Alexey Potapenko was born in Kiev on May 8. Year of birth - 1981. His father was a military man, his mother was an athlete, world champion in relay diving. It is not surprising that the boy did not think about the career of a musician at all.
Living in such a family, he had to get used to strict discipline in his childhood. But thanks to this he acquired a strong character and was able to become what he is now.
At school Alexei studied well, was a good student. But for behavior the boy received failing grades, in connection with which his parents were constantly called to school.
On the advice of his mother, Alexei went swimming, and then - enrolled in water polo. Showing amazing results, he joined the Ukrainian national team and even became its captain. Soon Lyosha received the title of Master of Sports.
Studying at school and university
It would seem that the future of the boy is predetermined. But with each year Alexei more and more begins to be interested in music. At the age of 13, he tries to record his compositions. Parents did not prevent this, but considered their son's hobby fleeting and not serious.
After graduating from school, Lyosha entered the University of Physical Education and Sports. Having a diploma gave him an excellent opportunity to get a job as a physical education teacher or water polo coach. But his father was against it, he wanted his son to get a more solid specialty. Lyosha decided not to object and became a student of the National Economic University. However, he did not have to work in any of these specialties, since later he devoted himself to music.
The beginning of the career of a musician
As a student, Lyosha spent all his free hours on creating his songs, participated in various musical projects. For a long time this did not bring him any income. But a young man with such a character just could not give up. He decided to make his way into show business and set himself ambitious goals.
In 1997 Potapenko created his first group. At that time, he did not yet read rap, but was only fond of heavy rock. In 2003, the first album of the artist "On his wave or ano kaneshno because shozh" was released. Then began constant concerts, shootings, interviews, which cemented Potap's image as an epathetic artist.
Project "Potap and Nastya"
A turning point in the biography of the singer was 2006. At that time Potap was already considered a famous solo artist. He needed to record a composition with a girl, so he was looking for a suitable soloist. She was required to sing the chorus of the song. Alexey was recommended to call Nastya Kamenskikh. It was that call and became the beginning of the birth of the famous duet.
Initially it was planned that their joint performance will be the only one. But after the single gained huge popularity, Potap decided to start producing his own brainchild.
His instincts did not fail him. After only a year, the newly minted duo became the winner. The guys sang the composition "Not a couple", which instantly secured all the leading places in the charts. With the same song and Rotaru's hit song "Khutoryanka" the young performers won the contest "Five Stars".
Further events began to develop with incredible speed. In 2008, the duo released their first joint album "Not a Couple". A year later - the second, which was called "Do not love my brains." It included such popular songs as:
- "On the Neighborhood";
- "New Year's Eve."
- "Chips, Chicks, Lavandos."
In the same year 2009, the world heard the composition "Chumachachaya Spring". It made a real furor and for a long time sounded everywhere wherever possible.
The team successfully moved forward, receiving one award after another. In a short time, Potap and Nastya collected absolutely everything - from the "Golden Gramophone" to the "Muz-TV Award".
In 2013, their discography was replenished with the third album "Everything is fine". And again it was on the leading positions in all the charts, especially the hit "Udi Udi".
The collective was officially recognized as the most popular in the country. However, in the fall of 2017, fans of the duo were waiting for shocking news. Alexei and Nastya reported that they will no longer perform together. Kamenskikh continued her solo career, and Potapenko focused on producing.
Producing and TV projects
In 2010, Alexey created his own production center. In addition to working with the duo, he is engaged in promotion:
- "Vremya i Steklo" collective;
- artist Arkady Laikin (pseudonym of Potap, who performs solo);
- male band Mozgi;
- Michelle Andrade.
But this is not the end of Potap's creative activity. He acts in movies, voices the characters of animated films, writes scripts and directs music videos.
"Spotlighted" Potap and on television. He several times became a mentor in the project "Voice of the country" and "Voice.Children", participated in the role of coach in the show "Laugh League".

Personal life
Potap's personal life is not less saturated than creative. Since 1999, Alexey has been married to Irina Gorova. It was she who helped him to create a production center. For Irina it was the second marriage, from the first she has a daughter Natalia. In 2008, the couple had a son Andrew. Both children they brought up together. In 2014, the spouses divorced, but remained good friends.
Currently, Potap is not married. This fact causes a lot of speculation and rumors. The most recent of them - about the upcoming marriage of Potap and Nastya Kamenskikh. The perpetrators of the celebration do not give any comments. "Wedding of the century", as it is indicated in the invitations, is scheduled for May 23, 2019.
