Early years and musical education

The future talent was born in November 1959 in a small village in the Transcarpathian region. He loved music since childhood, since the 7th grade he was a member of the ensemble "Green Carpathians". After school he decided to enter Chernigov music school, but all three attempts were unsuccessful. After another failure Stepan went to work as a mechanic, later - as a truck driver. Soon came the army service. Returning home, Giga again tried to enroll in a music school. And this time he was successful!

After graduating from the school in 3 years and passing the exams early, Stepan Giga entered the vocal faculty of the Moscow Conservatory. Already in the second year he became a soloist of a very famous at that time group "Stozhary".

After graduating from the conservatory Stepan returned to Transcarpathia. There he became a soloist of the local Philharmonic, and a little later he created a jazz-rock band "Beskid". In 1991, after the disintegration of the ensemble, Stepan Giga decided to pursue a solo career.

Creative achievements and awards of the singer

The result of the artist's creative efforts was the creation of his own recording studio GIGARecords and the release of five studio albums.

Gigi's third disk - "Vulitsa Natali" - can easily be called a landmark. In 2002 its sales reached one million copies. This made Gigi the first artist in Ukraine to receive a "Golden Disk". In general, he has three of them. And these are not the only awards and titles of the artist.

In 1998 Stepan Giga became an honored and four years later - People's Artist of Ukraine. His merits were recognized with the Order of Prince Ostrozhsky, silver and gold Order of St. Andrew the First-Called.

In the 2000s, interest in Stepan Gigi's work faded a little. However, in 2022, the artist's songs again gained great popularity. The singer, who performs compositions in Ukrainian, became a star of social networks in an instant, and his songs "Tsei Son", "Yavorina", "Gold of the Carpathians" - absolute hits.
