The future chansonnier was born in Moscow in a Jewish family. Birthday - April 13, 1948. The boy's father worked as a doctor. Mikhail's mother died when the child was 5 years old, so his upbringing was taken care of by his grandmother and grandfather. It was they who instilled in their grandson a taste for art. There was a trophy accordion in the house, and little Misha really wanted to learn to play it.

When the boy was 7 years old, he was given to a music school. But since the accordion at that time was considered an echo of bourgeois culture, Misha began to study accordion. His studies were easy for him. In a few years, Mikhail was already fluent in the instrument, was a regular member of school ensembles, and on weekends arranged with his grandfather impromptu concerts in the yard of his house.

Thus, the question of what he wants to become in the future, fell away by itself: after school, Shufutinsky, without hesitation, submitted documents to the Moscow Musical School.

The path to fame

After graduating and receiving a specialty "Conductor, choirmaster, teacher of music and singing", Mikhail began to perform in restaurants "Warsaw" and "Metropol" accompanist. Some time later, together with friends, Shufutinsky went to Magadan. Here in the restaurant "Severny" he began not only to play, but also to sing. The musician's repertoire consisted of songs by Alexander Vertinsky, Pyotr Leshchenko and other compositions written in the genre of blat chanson.

In 1974 Mikhail Shufutinsky returned to Moscow. In the next few years he often went on stage with the group "Accord", later led the ensemble "Leisya, pesnya", which performed mainly songs by Vyacheslav Dobrynin.

In 1981, Shufutinsky emigrated with his family to the United States, where he continued to work as a restaurant singer and musician. It is here that popularity comes to him. In the period from 1982 to 1990, Mikhail records 10 albums, which appear literally one after another. Performing in restaurants, Shufutinsky finds his audience and very quickly establishes himself as the highest paid singer among Russian emigrants.
In 1990, as a famous artist, Mikhail Shufutinsky came to the USSR and gave several concerts, which were a great success. Since then, the popular singer regularly appeared with performances in Russia and the CIS countries. At one time he simply lived in two cities, constantly visiting Moscow and Los Angeles, and then finally left the United States and moved to Russia.

In total, during his singing career Shufutinsky released about 30 studio albums, a huge number of compilations, filmed more than 25 videos. The most famous, almost folk, in his repertoire were the songs:

Personal life

Being a stately, imposing man, the famous chansonnier has always attracted the attention of women. But his personal life has never become a topic of speculation and journalistic gossip. Unlike many public people, he was an exemplary family man. The musician married only once.

His wife was Margarita Mikhailovna Shufutinskaya, with whom he was acquainted for several years. The young people married in January 1971. The woman was everywhere near the musician - and when he lived in the United States, and when he returned to Russia. Her love was enough for her husband and two children - sons David and Anton, five grandsons and two granddaughters - and she was always the standard of femininity.

Margarita Mikhailovna died in 2015 in Los Angeles, at the age of 66. Her death Mikhail Shufutinsky considers the greatest loss in his life. Together the spouses lived 44 years.
