"TransAtlantic Duo" in Berlin 12 May 2025

This sound combination - balalaika and guitar - is unusual and exciting. Three balalaika strings from the banks of the Elbe and six guitar strings from the Potomac in Maryland produce a transatlantic, musical sound. In this passionate fusion of two instruments, well-known classical masterpieces sound surprisingly new and original. In another part of the program, you will experience the diverse melodies of klezmer from southeastern Europe. Adapted and creatively arranged by the musicians. Then, as promised, the path leads across the Atlantic to America, to the New World. Rock titles, Brazilian rhythms and tango from Argentina are played in an unexpected and rousing way. Finally, we return to Eastern Europe with fiery gypsy dances and Slavic melancholy.

In the Netherlands, the Transatlantic Duo has performed with the outstanding glockenspiel player Bowdevine Zwart, in the USA with the clarinet player Seth Kibel, multiple winner of the Wammy Award.
From the concert halls of Germany, France and the Netherlands to the vibrant scenes of the American East and West Coasts, Alexander and Vladimir delight and inspire audiences worldwide.

Combining virtuosic artistry with heartfelt expression, Alexander and Vladimir continue to develop a wide range of musical styles, including popular classical, Latin American music, klezmer and Yiddish songs. Their performances are a vibrant blend of tradition and innovation, reinterpreting popular melodies and introducing audiences to new and exciting sounds.
As a klezmer musician, Vladimir played in the opening program of Isaac Perlman's concert "In the Fiddler's House" and played at the International Holocaust Remembrance Day commemoration at the Holocaust Museum (in 2018), among others
